The Importance of Health and Safety
KITS acknowledges that it is difficult for small companies to keep up with the ever
increasing demands placed on them on issues regarding Health and Safety. Due to
ever decreasing margins, it is not always feasible to employ a full-time dedicated
person responsible for issues relating to Health and Safety.
Current legislation states that: “Adequate competent persons must be employed
to assist the employer comply with legislation.”

The importance of Health and Safety cannot be underestimated and by using the
KITS Competent Person Service, you can be assured that you are working within
the law and are up to date with all the latest rules and regulations.

Option 1 2-Year Competent Person Development Programme
This option is designed to assist companies in becoming ‘self sufficient’
through the skills development of one of its own employees. KITS
Health & Safety Advisors will agree a programme of awareness and
training for a nominated individual, leading to a level of competency
acceptable to the Health & Safety Executive. This includes training,
mentoring and guidance on a one-to-one basis.
Included within this programme:
Two annual Site Surveys to undertake Health & Safety inspections in conjunction
with the nominated member of staff
An annual Periodic Report and Status Update on findings
Two half-day one-to-one training and development sessions per annum for the nominated
Competent Person
Unlimited direct telephone and email support for the nominated staff member, providing
access and assistance from KITS Health & Safety Advisors
10% discount off KITS training courses
Automatic updates on Legislation updates
Your investment: £1750 for the 24 month period (payable in two annual instalments).
Option 2 Annual CPS Programme
This is KITS long-standing CPS programme for all sizes of company where assistance with
Health & Safety issues is required in the absence of a nominated Competent Person.
KITS Health & Safety Advisors will undertake this role on your behalf, and provide you
with an assured service. There also the option of a single annual visit with report.
Included within this programme:
An annual Site Survey and one half-yearly Inspection Visit
An annual Periodic Report and Status update on findings
Unlimited telephone and email support
Automatic updates on Legislation changes
Your investment: £700p/a for 2 annual visits, or £450p/a for a single annual visit, and reports
Option 3 One-Off Health Check Service
Typically for companies, retail outlets or micro-SME’s
employing less than 20 staff, this service provides a
half-day inspection of the physical premises and policies
to ensure the business is operating within the legislative
guidelines.
Included within this programme:
Half-day inspection of premises and operating policies
A written report on any identified corrective actions
required against identified legislation
Your investment: £200 for a half-day consultation visit and report.
KITS Join Forces with THP to offer Employment Law, HR Advice and Health & Safety Services
KITS has joined forces with The Howarth Partnership Ltd (THP) to provide a rounded service to their combined client base. In addition to the Health & Safety advice and services through our Competent Person Service, KITS can now sign-post customers seeking advice on employment law and HR advice which will be provided by THP.
