On completion of the course, participants will be able to:
• Understanding the legal and professional issues surrounding patient movement.
• The anatomy and back care of the spine and associated structures.
• Describe and Implement the principals of manual handling.
• Carry out associated risk assessments.
• Understanding the ergonomics of the process.
• Successfully carry out practical lifting / handling techniques. Including:
Chair and bed manoeuvres,
Chair to floor for emergencies.
• Understand and recognise illegal and controversial measures.
• Recognise, select and use appropriate:
Manual handling equipment, (hoists, slings etc)
Patient moving equipment, "Patslides", boards, sheets etc
• Be proactive and confident in solving associated problems.
