We offer Motor Vehicle Apprenticeships and are committed to placing learners with quality employers. The Apprenticeships we offer are in the Auto Electrical, Heavy Vehicle, Light Vehicle and Fast Fit pathways.
We work with learners (mainly 16 – 18) who will be looking for an Apprenticeship position within a Garage / Company within the West Yorkshire area.
KITS work to the new Apprenticeship Standards that have been introduced and this now requires more involvement and commitment from you, the Employer. KITS will work closely with you to plan and deliver the Apprenticeship training. One to One tutoring and the training delivered in the Skills Training Centre at KITS for your apprentice/s, are a key part of the new Apprenticeship Standards and are required to meet the minimum 20% off the job requirements.
The Apprenticeship training takes 3 years and covers the essential knowledge, skills and behaviours required for a young person to become a fully qualified Motor Vehicle Technician.
Timeline of Recruitment
March to June 2018 –
All learners apply to KITS and then go through an in-depth application and selection process. KITS assess all learners on their Maths and English and existing knowledge, by way of an Aptitude test. This thorough process ensures that we only bring candidates onto the programme, who are capable of the work and achieving the qualification requirements.
June to August 2018 –
The Motor Vehicle Department and Employer Engagement Team will work through the matching process and work to select candidates for the Apprenticeship role, who they feel will meet your needs and be a suitable match to your business, based on any criteria and person requirements that you give us. They will arrange interviews with you so that you can meet, interview and work trial the learners, giving you the best opportunity to appoint the most suited learner. The learner can start with you at any point after they have completed their GCSE’s and have left school, before the programme officially starts in September.
September 2018 –
Apprentices start their Apprenticeship Training Course and will begin to attend their Day Release programme, which will remain in place for the 3 years of their course. The remaining time they will work with you in the garage / company.
**Alternatively you might have your own staff member or have recruited your own Apprentice. Please talk to us about this and what the timetable of training might look like for this option.
