Current legislation states that “Adequate Competent Persons must be employed to assist the employer comply with legislation” (Management of Health & Safety at Work Act 1999, Regulation 7)
KITS acknowledges that it is difficult for small businesses to keep up with the ever increasing demands placed on them regarding Health & Safety and understands that it is not always feasible to employ a full-time qualified dedicated person to provide guidance on matters relating to Health & Safety.
KITS offers a number of different options to help you meet your legislative requirements:
2 –Year Health & Safety Assistance Development Programme
KITS aim is to provide immediate assistance, with the long term goal being to assist businesses in becoming “Self Sufficient” through the skills and development of one of its employees. KITS Health & Safety Advisors will agree a programme of awareness training for a nominated individual, leading to recognised level of competency acceptable to the Health & Safety Executive. This package includes a Free IOSH Managing Safely Course for one person plus two annual written reports against compliance/best practice, supported by recommendations on how best to comply with any identified non-compliance.
Annual Health & Safety Assistance Programme
a) This is KITS recognised programme for all businesses where assistance isrequired in the absence of a nominated Competent Person. This offer includes two audits per year supported by written reports against legislation/best practice supported by recommendations on how best to comply with any identified non – compliance.
b) Where businesses are small or with limited risks, KITS offers the option of one visit per year
supported by a written report on compliance.
One off Health Check
This service provides a half day physical inspection of the premises and policies where applicable to ensure that the business is operating within the legislative guidelines. This service is typically aimed at retail outlets or micro SMEs or anybody who is looking to start a new business or has acquired new premises etc. This option includes a written report against any identified corrective actions required to comply with legislation current best practice.
